IT Support Manager

Jul 2019 - Present

  • After demonstrating leadership of the department in the absence of the previous manager, I was promoted to be responsible for the IT infrastructure & IT support for the UK business.
  • In addition to my core management tasks, I am also responsible for monitoring and maintaining the server infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams on IT projects, and ensuring the accuracy and availability of department documentation.
  • I introduced the use of Ansible for all Linux server configuration, including documentation and training for all IT engineers, resulting in more streamlined deployments and increased compliance of standards.

Senior IT Engineer

Oct 2018 - Jul 2019

  • I was promoted in recognition of the infrastructure and process improvements I had implemented in my previous position.
  • As a Senior IT Engineer I utilised a range of tools including PowerShell, Python and bash to automate repetitive processes including notification of copier consumable levels and a migration of 100s of file shares.
  • I performed regular patching and monitoring of the ESXi hosts, Windows servers, Veeam and Backup Exec to ensure data was protected and recoverable.
  • Improved Veeam configuration to prevent impacting production and to maximise performance.
  • Migration of all physical servers to VMs.

IT Support Technician

Jan 2017 - Oct 2018

  • I was part of a small department providing support for 250+ employees at a manufacturing company.
  • The diverse infrastructure consisted of Windows servers and clients, Cisco switches, VMware vSphere, Veeam and Sophos AV.
  • I suggested and lead improvements in this role including the implementation of a Spiceworks help desk, the use of client imaging and an effective incident response procedure. These changes resulted in significant enhancements to our work, reducing the time spent setting up client devices from 1-2 days to just a few hours, faster resolution of issues, a reduction in errors and built confidence in us among our user base.

Senior IT Technician

Mar 2014 - Jan 2017

  • First and second line support for the college and two primary schools via phone, remote tools and in person.
  • Administration of Windows server infrastructure including Group Policy, Active Directory, DNS and SQL.
  • I was responsible for the printers, Papercut software and troubleshooting issues with SIMS.
